Bank Holidays 2026: Complete Calendar with Payroll Cut-Off Times

The Federal Reserve sets eleven official bank holidays in 2026 when all member banks close branches and suspend check processing. If you process payroll or expect payments, submit them before the cut-off times listed below to avoid delays. Online banking and ATMs remain available on most holidays.
New Year's Day

All Federal Reserve member banks close on New Year's Day to observe the first federal holiday of the calendar year. Since January 1 falls on a Thursday in 2026, branches reopen Friday morning with normal hours. ATMs and mobile apps process deposits and transfers throughout the day.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Banks honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the third Monday of January each year. This federal holiday closes all branch locations but leaves digital services running. Wire transfers submitted Friday after 3 PM EST will not process until Tuesday morning. Stock markets also close for the day.

Presidents Day
